Welcome to Huntington

Huntington sits at the end of Metro's Yellow line, situated immediately south of Old Town Alexandria and I-495. Huntington Ave is the neighborhoods main thoroughfare and namesake, along which newer condos, apartments, and townhomes have been built in the last decade or so. Most of Huntington's housing stock, however, is two-story post-WWII brick duplexes. Huntington isn't known for it's restaurant/retail/entertainment scene, which pales in comparison to other Alexandria and Arlington neighborhoods. Home prices reflect this, which results in relatively affordable homes for those who don't mind foregoing a weekend stroll to a neighborhood restaurant.

Restaurants, Retail, and Entertainment

As alluded to above, Huntington doesn't have a strong restaurant/retail/entertainment scene. It does have a handful of take-out and basic restaurants, like Old Chicago Pizzeria, Las Catrachitas (Honduran cuisine), Magios Italian, and Ken's Asian Bistro. But suffice it to say that Huntington isn't a foodie heaven. It also has its fair share of staple retail like dry cleaners. Beacon Center, while not in Huntington, is a short drive along Richmond Highway and offers a Giant Food grocery store, Office Depot, Lowes and national chain restaurants like TGI Fridays and Outback Steakhouse. Huntington is a short drive or Metro ride from Old Town Alexandria, however, which has an abundance of some of the country's most interesting restaurants and beautiful waterfront.

Transportation

The neighborhood benefits from the Huntington Metro station (Yellow line), and Fairfax Connector bus lines. It's pretty close to I-395, a direct shot into DC, and I-495. Parking is a breeze, which you can't say about many other neighborhoods with a Metro station.
